Semi-active RFID
RFID readers can be used to identify vehicles and drivers quickly and automatically from a distance. Semi-active RFID is a technology that operates with very little interference or environmental noise. The identifiers are battery powered and with that they send strong signals over a long range setting the bar for accurate and reliable identification.
Nedap’s TRANSIT range of readers and tags are highly accurate and ideal for situations where security and efficiency are crucial. Next to vehicle identification tags the range also covers heavy duty tags for challenging situations and boosters for simultaneous identification of vehicle and driver ID. Therefore, it provides high levels of security, even in harsh environments, and is well-suited to long-range identification.
Highly secure vehicle access is often applied at: airports, seaports, mines, military bases and factories.
Passive UHF
By using passive RFID technology, vehicles and drivers can be quickly identified via a passive UHF sticker tag, a hard tag or a card. Tags within range of the reader respond powered by the incoming signal itself. It’s a cost-effective way to increase security while avoiding congestion at gated vehicle entrances and exits.
Nedap has a broad product range of passive UHF readers and tags, called uPASS. There are different readers available developed to match a variety of gate layouts and use cases. With a long, adjustable read range, it’s easy to place these readers in a suitable location. uPASS tags can be positioned in or on vehicles for secure, automatic identification. With these identification systems, you help to keep traffic moving with a smooth welcoming experience.
Applications where passive RFID is often used are: industrial sites, logistic depots, parking facilities, gated communities and campuses.
License plate recognition
License Plate Recognition (LPR) or Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is a technology that uses optical character recognition to identify vehicle license plates. It’s a convenient solution for granting (temporary) vehicle access for frequent users or visitors without the need to distribute tags.
To ensure accurate and fast identification of number plates, Nedap offers specialized ANPR Lumo cameras that provide enhanced security and smoother traffic flow at gates. This improves safety for both employees and visitors while reducing wait times and keeping costs under control. The ANPR Lumo camera can be used in reader mode as part of a security system or as a stand-alone solution for convenient access.
Applications where LPR is often used are: automatic toll roads, airports and various parking areas.
Mobile and cards
Frequent users and visitors can be identified in a secure and convenient manner using RFID cards or mobile credentials. These kind of technologies are typically used for visitor and driver access at entrance gates, turnstiles or building access. Multi-technology readers can read different tags and credentials to increase convenience and operational efficiency. Nedap offers a NVITE solution which allows the use of a variety of identifiers: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near-field Communication (NFC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and QR codes, Smartcards and proximity cards.
Multi-technology readers are often applied in: pre-registered visitor applications, multi-tenant environments and for vehicle access for staff at office buildings.
